Kamusta naman

"Kamusta naman..." is it a question or an expression? Where did it come from? How did it become popular? Why do Filipinos say it at as often as they put exclamation point in their sentences. It is interesting how people spread it like the phenomenal dance craze and song "boom tarat tarat". Its like an echo in the cave. Every house in our community plays the song in full volume and dance with feelings and all energy. To think that "boom tarat tarat" barely has meaning and more so a connection to Christmas. Back to the expression, "kamusta naman..." is commonly used when giving a comment to something like: "Nakuha kong exchange gift chocolate e diabetic ako. Kamusta naman." or "Kamusta naman.
