My First PUSO Day

I am 35, single (technically)  who have been asked numerous times every February of my life this same generic and sometimes annoying question of what will I do on the 14th? Normally my answer would just be a smile but this year is different. I have an answer, we have an all-girls-sleep-over partey!!!

Last Feb14 (on a Friday, Payday, Valentines), while the Metro is cursed with heavy traffic both on streets and in trains (ya! people-traffic), I stayed at home the whole day to prepare for the night. My housemates and I, invited our girl friends to have a Valentines party at home and we called it P.U.S.O. Don't ask me what the acronym mean because I keep forgetting, the S though stands for Singles. See my pang-elementary wall decor...We even have our Love wall...

Anyway, the ladies started coming by 5pm. The program was simple: eat, have a game and movie marathon. We had dinner, talked, laughed and ate as much sweets as we wanted (imagine 10+ women talking and laughing...thanks to the sugar rush. It was a riot!) The night was "young" and no one can eat more pasta or chicken or donuts thus, the movie marathon. The group chose Pride and Prejudice, the old 4-hour TV Series in BBC. What a way to celebrate Heart's Day, be overwhelmed with hearty words of Mr. Darsy.

The story of P&P never fails to amuse the audience with sizzle of how a man turns head over heels to a woman.

Proverbs 30:18-19 says:
Three things are too wonderful for me;
four I do not understand:
the way of an eagle in the sky
the way of a serpent on a rock,
the way of a ship on the high seas,
and the way of a man with a virgin.

Most of the girls who came to the party are christian single who are happy and contented in the Lord but also waiting for His blessing of a godly man to come, their own 'Mr. Darsy', God-willing.

As for me, this is my first February 14 with a boyfriend. (Ya, I know count my age hihi...) He surprised me by delivering himself at home the most beautiful bouquet of flowers, yummiest donuts and dark chocolates I ever received on this special day. I blushed as I received them...darn!

Earlier, I hoped he'd do something but I prepared myself not to expect then it came. Thank you, Love. This is my first PUSO Day.

I wanna sing lala lala lala means...

Past midnight came but the movie was not yet over. As my eyes couldn't hold it any longer, I dozed off earlier than the ladies. During breakfast I've learned that they slept at 5am. :) Let's do this again, soon!

Don't miss it

Whenever I travel by plane, I would often miss looking at the beautiful cottony clouds by the window. This morning I read of a different cloud I should never miss watching. I just finished reading the book of Exodus and this last chapter helped me understand and believe more of God's faithfulness to His people as I think of uncertainties in 2012. The last verses of Exodus 40 are like sweet reminders to me. I can't help but praise God because His ways are sure and I just have to trust in Him. 34  Then  the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and  the glory of the  Lord  filled the tabernacle.   35  And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord  filled the tabernacle.   36  Throughout all their journeys,  whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out.   37  But  if the cloud was not taken up, then they did...

Borrowed Time

The loss of a loved one is one of the most painful seasons anyone can ever experience in life--one of the hardest times to go through.  Since Friday last week, I've seen how one dearly-loved person passing away, turns a family, relatives and friends to sudden gloom and sadness. The pain so enveloped everyone, as one family member said, "masakit... hindi ma-explain".  The few days of wake ushered everyone to weep with those who weep. It was a time to cry and find comfort with one another and, most especially from the the Lord. The pain of separation lingers but everyone is invited to the true hope in God, as one of the songs went (Trust His Heart) during the wake service: God is too wise to be mistaken God is too good to be unkind So when you don't understand When you don't see His plan When you can't trace His hand Trust His heart Yesterday was the burial. During interment mass, a passage from Job was read. Job, as many are fami...
