I've been watching Myx

Lately I've been checking Myx. It's a local music channel, a local version of MTV. I am curious what type of music is up nowadays.

Top songs are still about break ups or turning somebody on. Nothing much changed (I guess) but something did change, because music tells you what's happening in the society. It mirrors the mindset of the people who listen to the music because they make them popular or unpopular.

I think these top songs tell you two things: first, you are amazing and second, nothing can make you the opposite. Check this one:

"One kiss is all it takes, Falling in love with me, Possibilities"

Or this one:

Ain't got no tears in my body
I ran out, but boy, I like it, I like it, I like it
Don't matter how, what, where, who tries it
We're out here vibin', we vibin', we vibin'

Self worth is all over the songs on top chart. But, this shouldn't surprise me because we are in an era where self-expression is all that matters. We are in a time when you can be yourself and not care about others or rules or laws or God! If you are on Youtube, chances are, you can express yourself plus get popular.

Loving self is normal. We all care and protect ourselves but when it becomes 'The Only' thing that matters, that's where we draw the line. Loving self above God is sinful. I remember Someone who denied Himself of any earthly pleasure, in order for many to be saved (Phils.2). Instead of loving self, God calls us to seek Him first and put others first before self. #servanthood

I personally like music. Music is part of my life. However, I also know how it can go with the time that tells you, 'this is what is normal now, better accept it'. I remember when cursing is masked in music, but now not anymore.

I still enjoy different kinds of music today but with this in my mind. Hope this will help you reflect and guard your mind too.

Don't miss it

Whenever I travel by plane, I would often miss looking at the beautiful cottony clouds by the window. This morning I read of a different cloud I should never miss watching. I just finished reading the book of Exodus and this last chapter helped me understand and believe more of God's faithfulness to His people as I think of uncertainties in 2012. The last verses of Exodus 40 are like sweet reminders to me. I can't help but praise God because His ways are sure and I just have to trust in Him. 34  Then  the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and  the glory of the  Lord  filled the tabernacle.   35  And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord  filled the tabernacle.   36  Throughout all their journeys,  whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out.   37  But  if the cloud was not taken up, then they did...

Borrowed Time

The loss of a loved one is one of the most painful seasons anyone can ever experience in life--one of the hardest times to go through.  Since Friday last week, I've seen how one dearly-loved person passing away, turns a family, relatives and friends to sudden gloom and sadness. The pain so enveloped everyone, as one family member said, "masakit... hindi ma-explain".  The few days of wake ushered everyone to weep with those who weep. It was a time to cry and find comfort with one another and, most especially from the the Lord. The pain of separation lingers but everyone is invited to the true hope in God, as one of the songs went (Trust His Heart) during the wake service: God is too wise to be mistaken God is too good to be unkind So when you don't understand When you don't see His plan When you can't trace His hand Trust His heart Yesterday was the burial. During interment mass, a passage from Job was read. Job, as many are fami...
