Covid19 and Jesus

A friend shared two links to me this morning. Both are about thoughts about Covid19 from known Christian leaders. See links below:

John Piper and Albert Mohler shared what I have been thinking about these past weeks, to understand God's will over the global spread of the virus. In my head, is this part of God's wrath in the end times? I am trying to recall, is there a prophecy that God will inflict many of disease so they would repent?  I can try looking up for bible verses but listening to the two links, I realized two key messages:

  1. Believe in God
  2. Life is like a vapor

Point 1: Believe in God

In times of trouble our minds is the constant target of Satan to sow fear and doubts. Hearing this reminder is encouraging me to keep a mind that trusts in Jesus:

Piper said "Jesus has all knowledge and all authority over the natural and supernatural forces of this world. He knows exactly where the virus started, and where it's going to next. He has complete power to restrain it or not. And that's what's happening"

This memory verse also helps me from unbelief:

Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;

So be reminded too that no matter how small the virus is nothing escapes our Creator. He knows this and has full control of everything.

Point 2: Life is like a vapor

Covid19 threatens precious life of many. The carrier can infect anyone without their knowledge and just like that, you'll find yourself sick and have possibility of dying, much worst infected more others around you.

Brevity of life confronts us of our priorities in life. Am I too busy building my career? Where is God in my life? The rich and poor, young and old, white, black or yellow, we are all humbled that God call the shots when it comes to life and death.

James 4:14 "yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes."

Virus, diseases, accidents or natural calamities are common on earth. These are all possible means of God to call our attention.

Response

I think this is a wake up call to all of us. We are in the end times and things that God allows to happen can be His way to call us to repent.

Mark 1:15 "...The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."

I realized Covid19 is not our ultimate enemy, our sin is our enemy. We die now, we go to hell because of our sins. If you are like this, Jesus is calling you to repent and believe.

To Christians, don't fear death, God is in control even if we get the virus. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Even death can be gain.

Don't miss it

Whenever I travel by plane, I would often miss looking at the beautiful cottony clouds by the window. This morning I read of a different cloud I should never miss watching. I just finished reading the book of Exodus and this last chapter helped me understand and believe more of God's faithfulness to His people as I think of uncertainties in 2012. The last verses of Exodus 40 are like sweet reminders to me. I can't help but praise God because His ways are sure and I just have to trust in Him. 34  Then  the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and  the glory of the  Lord  filled the tabernacle.   35  And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the Lord  filled the tabernacle.   36  Throughout all their journeys,  whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out.   37  But  if the cloud was not taken up, then they did...

Borrowed Time

The loss of a loved one is one of the most painful seasons anyone can ever experience in life--one of the hardest times to go through.  Since Friday last week, I've seen how one dearly-loved person passing away, turns a family, relatives and friends to sudden gloom and sadness. The pain so enveloped everyone, as one family member said, "masakit... hindi ma-explain".  The few days of wake ushered everyone to weep with those who weep. It was a time to cry and find comfort with one another and, most especially from the the Lord. The pain of separation lingers but everyone is invited to the true hope in God, as one of the songs went (Trust His Heart) during the wake service: God is too wise to be mistaken God is too good to be unkind So when you don't understand When you don't see His plan When you can't trace His hand Trust His heart Yesterday was the burial. During interment mass, a passage from Job was read. Job, as many are fami...
