Sesame Street turns 40

Today I opened Google and saw Cookie Monster in Google logo ( yesterday it was Big Bird ) and as I mouse over, it says "Ika-40th Anibersaryo ng Sesame Street" and my reaction was, Oh! wow they are 40. 

I can't help but count how old Sesame was when I was born? They were only 9. Now you're counting my age...Okay anyway, I feel sad that kids nowadays don't know Sesame Street anymore. They are missing all the fun of counting 1-10 with count and singing ABC with the muppets, kermit, big bird, monsters and all the kids in the cute and fun episodes of Sesame Street. It was like the english counterpart of Batibot for us then. 

Now that Sesame is 40, kids then have also grown but well remember the daily telly habit of watching favorite kids programs. I wish that TV networks today will have more child friendly shows that teach basic school lessons with clean entertainment just like Sesame Street and Batibot back then. 

Hope to see more substance in kids tv programs today, more than tagalized cartoon programs or violent animes. Hope to see the likes of Batibot or Sesame Street back to filipino kids TV viewing consumption again.

    Children programs today are no brainers. It make the child actually dumber. Remember Teletubbies? They can't freaking speak!!!

    i bought the old school sesame street 2 volume dvds from amazon, the one with episodes from the first 10 years of SS (got them for myself, mind you). when i watch them with my niece (and by myself) i can't get over how much genius and creativity was put into each of those segments. and that was before there were high tech effects! i still marvel at each one of them just like i did when i watched them as a kid.

    awwww we all miss sesame.

    Glad i hope your niece enjoyed watching it as much as you do :) hehehe
    you really bought dvds a, mmmm thats good idea for my pamangkinis to have better alternative

    lance, i love sineskwela too. i remember "tayo na sa sineskwela..." just why do good programs don't last long?

    hahaha talaga? dont watch barney kasi. good thing my 2yr old nephew just get to watch it on youtube for "i love you...you love me song"

Don't miss it

Whenever I travel by plane, I would often miss looking at the beautiful cottony clouds by the window. This morning I read of a different cloud I should never miss watching. I just finished reading the book of Exodus and this last chapter helped me understand and believe more of God's faithfulness to His people as I think of uncertainties in 2012. Borrowed Time

The loss of a loved one is one of the most painful seasons anyone can ever experience in life--one of the hardest times to go through.  Since Friday last week, I've seen how one dearly-loved person passing away, turns a family, relatives and friends to sudden gloom and sadness.
