Youth Christmas Fellowship 'A Christmas Carol' Dec.19 Sat. 2pm

Revisiting my old PUP

Yesterday, after a morning of doing home errrands on my work leave, in the afternoon I visited PUP Grad School to request for a copy of grades and as i anticipated, I would have to go to different offices to request for clearance signature for my request. So I went to library, accounting and cashier. I am no longer used to lining up to pay for school but hey I'm in PUP its a norm. As they say PUP means 'Pila Ulit Pila'. I got tired lining up so I had toknene(quail eggs) and sago't gulaman for merienda and then took stairs to go up to my beloved org, Kalasag Christian Fellowship, the IVCF branch in PUP. Thank God I saw familiar faces and so I went in the tambayan room. They were having exec meeting for 2nd sem activities. It was a blessing to meet them and witness that they are continuing on to do the good work. I remember my college days when I would spend my breaktimes in the same room. Revisiting my old PUP brought back memories of happy college life. Many structur

Sesame Street turns 40

Today I opened Google and saw Cookie Monster in Google logo ( yesterday it was Big Bird ) and as I mouse over, it says "Ika-40th Anibersaryo ng Sesame Street" and my reaction was, Oh! wow they are 40.  I can't help but count how old Sesame was when I was born? They were only 9. Now you're counting my age...Okay anyway, I feel sad that kids nowadays don't know Sesame Street anymore. They are missing all the fun of counting 1-10 with count and singing ABC with the muppets, kermit, big bird, monsters and all the kids in the cute and fun episodes of Sesame Street. It was like the english counterpart of Batibot for us then.  Now that Sesame is 40, kids then have also grown but well remember the daily telly habit of watching favorite kids programs. I wish that TV networks today will have more child friendly shows that teach basic school lessons with clean entertainment just like Sesame Street and Batibot back then.  Hope to see more substance in kids tv programs

Campaigns 2010 Exhibit

Ang Pinaka Exciting Exhibit ng taon (am being sarcastic) turned out to be photo shooting day for me of Shalani, Erap, Ate V and many more surprises...

Top 10 Ang Pinaka Pasaway sa Facebook

Last Sunday I watched QTV's Ang Pinaka and couldn't help but laugh and agree with some or most of the reasons why people are 'pasaway' in FB. Honestly, I am pasaway sometimes too but really I'm amazed at how much Filipinos have embraced this social networking site and become part of their daily lives to the point that it become an addiction to some. So guys, here it is the Top 10 Ang Pinaka Pasaway sa FB  10. The Sympathy Baiter - posting comments that are too emo, inviting attention to self 9. The Obscurist - posting too deep words, cryptic phrases words of wisdom comments 8. The Paparazzo - feeling photo journalist, posting photos without your permission and                                       tagging you without concern if the photo will cause you shame  7. The Bad Grammarian -  likes to sound smart on his comments, never mind if the grammar                                         is 'baluktot' 6. The Chronic Inviter - bombards you with every quiz, game

My Typhoon Ondoy Experience

Personal experience of the calamity that taught me to say with Job, "the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord" It was waist deep already that we had to leave our house as the flood rises so quickly... My brother outside our house few hours before the flood reached over 6 feet high... When the flood was gone, most properties were damaged but thankfully we are safe... Damaged things, lost properties, tiring moments, frustrating long hours and many unforgettable flood experiences. I will keep them as memories that taught me to trust in God's goodness and let go of material things that don't really matter in eternity

Think Heaven

My QT today is on 1Cor.5 where Paul exhorts believers in Corinth not to sue brethren. Paul's reasons for saying so are as follows: 1. Believers will judge the world with Christ one day 2. Not only the world but the angels ...instead, settle the issue within the church. I say this is how all believers should always think--think heaven. The prize ahead. The moment when we see Jesus face to face. The time when the world will recognize Jesus is God. The day when all believers go to heaven and glorify God forever! Now I am reminded of the verse to "set my mind on things above" and the numerous times the bible speaks of loving the brother and sister. I praise the Holy Spirit, that I am able to see this wisdom. There are more in the passage I've read this morning that I've learned but I just want to share one for now. May you be surrender always your now to Him who is keeper of our souls now and forever.

What will you do if you have Super Memory?

Read an article that reminds me of the TV series Heroes. But this one is in real life situation. I just realized if I were them, I would read a lot like the bible, commentaries, history, cooking, science etc. Imagine hindi sasakit ang ulo mo though you remember all you've read? But there not all have super memory. But I know One who knows not only the past but the future. He is God the Alpha and Omega.  Anyway, thankfully God created some to have this and not all. It must be painful to be helpless in forgetting what you want to forget. His ways are just perfect. :)   4 People With Super Memory   by  David K. Israel What if you finished reading this article and remembered every detail of it for the rest of your life? That’s the problem people with super-autobiographical memory face—and yes, it’s often referred to as a problem, not a gift. Their minds are like a computer hard drive that retains everything: dates, middle names, license plate numbers, even what they eat for lunch on

Anawangin Cove adventure was cancelled

It's really a perfect time to unwind, have vacation, breathe new air and do something not regular. It was the plan since its holiday on Monday, August 31. A wonderful opportunity for a restful looong weekend. Weeks ahead my friends and I planned to go to Anawangin Cove in Zambales this afternoon till tomorrow. All was set. Itenerary was printed, I called the bangkero and inquired for place to stay. The night before, i prayed to God. "Lord, if its your will for us to go, please make it obvious." This morning, I received a text. My friend got sick and she couldnt come. This means we will just be 3 and in effect bigger expenses because it will just be divided to 3 instead of 4. After asking people involved, we decided to cancel. One thing I realized, God is sovereign. I am sad really that we didnt spend the weekend for beach holiday, but maybe there is a better thing to do like household chores, cook for family, meditate on the Word of God, pray, learn piano, grocery and mem

Letter of Ninoy to Ballsy

I can't help but admire such a loving dad.   ___________________________________________ August 18, 1973 FortBonifacio Makati, Rizal Ms. Maria Elena C. Aquino 25 Times St. Quezon City My dearest Ballsy, I write you this letter with tears in my eyes and as if steel fingers are crushing my heart because I wanted so much to be with you as you celebrate your legal emancipation. Now that you have come of age, my love, a voice tells me that I am no longer young and suddenly, I feel old. An old poet gave this advice very long ago "when you are sad, remember the roses will bloom in December." I want to send you bouquet of roses, big red roses from my dreamland garden. Unfortunately for the present, my roses are not in bloom, in fact they have dropped all their petals and only the thorns are left to keep me company. I do think it is fitting to send you a thicket of thorns on this memorable day! I am very proud of you because you have inherited all the best traits o

Spark from Unknown

Magic. Kilig. Kuryente. At iyon din ang hinahanap ko ngayon. May isang lalaking may gusto sa akin. Mabait siya. May hitsura. Matino.  Stable. Mature. May napatunayan na sa buhay. Maalalahanin. May konting sense of humor. At alam ko, aalagaan niya ako. Si

I respect the president

I mean our president GMA. Many people asks, what if GMA dies, will she be mourned by as many people as President Cory? I can't answer that. But what I would want to say is that, the present President should still be submitted to, respected and not chided as God commanded us to submit to government leaders for they are given by God (Romans 13) Yes God is sovereign even in a corrupt government like ours. Let us not give up in doing good, for God's glory.

Blood Donor

Last week, a friend of mine sent a text blast asking to find blood donors for her mother who was sick in the hospital.  It was an opportunity to help and save life so in my quick selfish thinking I volunteered a friend and even my own brother to donate blood. But, on a second thought, why not me? I was a blood donor once but it was a long time ago. Doing it for the second time would be a good try.  So I went in the hospital with another friend who will donate as well. It took few hours before we finally faced the giant needle. The physical examination and some blood testing was conducted and we passed as donors.  I was sleepy. I thought, can I just lay down and sleep while you get my blood out of me? No we waited, until we finally had our moment to lay down, give my left arm and then aaughh!!!! (in my mind). So I filled the bag, think of Zesto tetra pack... its a little bigger. I won't be too detailed anymore.  So why share this? Am I boasting of my noble act? Honestly, NO!  Afte

Do Hard Things

Rating: ★★★★★ Category: Books Genre: Teens Author: Alex & Brett Harris To all teens out there and even over teen years, grab a copy of this soul inspiring, encouraging and convicting book on rebellion against Low Expectations. It's about an idea. It's about rebelling against low expectations. It's about a movement that is changing the attitudes and actions of teens around the world. And we want you to be part of it." Philippine Science Centrum Marikina

My pamangkins and I tried this new Science exhibit in Marikina Riverbanks last week and we really had fun. The place is not so big, you can tour around for an hour and a half. The tour guide explains each section and they allow you to try out things---very interactive. They have exhibits for gravity, water, solar system, optical illusions and don't miss the House as well as the shadow room. Heard that all exhibits were made by Marikina students. Galing!   Try it yourself. Entrance is very affordable at P45/each.   Sorry can't post pic now :)

First out of the country experience

I don't know what happened when I posted this the only thing left was the last line and the picture below.  Well, anyway, my first time abroad was happy and sad. Happy because everything was a first time like spending different currency, being actually a foreigner, staying in a very clean city (parang makati at the fort all over ang Singapore), ride train with different nationalities (the smell was impossible to not notice),etc. Sad naman because our trip in Malaysia was eaten up by unexpected call from client. So we worked till morning but we managed to take pictures in Petronas bridge.   Kaya... :) Im looking forward for another trip in another country or within country--God willing.

Bro

How fast do we pick up something out of tv programs? "Bro" is Jesus in an evening tv series who regularly appear to a young boy. This is becoming a popular call for Jesus nowadays. I feel bad. Jesus is God. He is holy. His name is beautiful name.  For to us a child is born,        to us a son is given,        and the government will be on his shoulders.        And he will be called        Wonderful Counselor, [ a ] Mighty God,        Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
